First edition. A presentation copy, lengthily inscribed by the author on a blank flyleaf: "To Captain the Rt. Honble Harry Crookshank M.P. Financial Secretary to the Treasury May 1940. With the author's grateful remembrance of 'Home Nursing & Hygiene', by Harry Crookshank . which inspired her in girlhood to study the history of nursing". 8vo. xviii, 392pp. With a tissue-protected frontispiece and 57 plates of photographs and reproductions. Top edge lightly dust soiled, the backstrip ends gently bruised, and with the cloth lifting a fraction in one tiny area at the head of the upper board. The binding just a fraction tender at the inscribed flyleaf, yet still perfectly sound. A very good copy, and scarce indeed with the author's presentation inscription (which refers to Harry Crookshank's 1881 publication 'Manual of Home Nursing and Hygiene including First Aid to be Rendered in Cases of Accidents and Emergencies')..
