Edward Brian Seago (1910-74) Worked as Edward Seago,born in Norwich.From early childhood,he suffered from a mysterious, intermittent heart complaint for most of his life and,was confined to bed for much of his childhood,and had little formal education.
However,he won a Royal Drawing Society Prize at the age of 14 and later studied privately under the landscape painter Bernard Priestman RA.He spent several years travelling with circuses in Britain and abroad (1928-33),exhibiting circus drawings and paintings,but subsequently became known as a landscape, portrait and animal painter.many of his book illustrations were in fact reproductions of his drawings and paintings with accompanying texts.Elected RBA (1946),and RWS (1959).
