1159 (complete). Presentation copy. Numbered 183. "Presented on behalf of the City of Johannesburg To His Worship the Mayor of Cape Town. Councillor R. M. Friedlander". Signed by Alf Widman (then a beloved mayor of Johannesburg). Dated in hand 1971. The presentation is as new - it is very bright and fresh. A VERY heavy book! The green cover is scuffed and rubbed, but is otherwise tight, secure, muscular and dignified. The titling is in gilt that is bright. The papertrims are marked from shelving and handling. Inside, the contents are very clean, very clear, very certain and confident. The backpapers have a small storage stain to the top spine edge. To say that the book is diligent is as useful to say that Margot Fonteyn knew how to dance. This is a massive history of the young city. It is crammed with personality and detail. A MUST for any collector of books about Johannesburg. fk. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket Click here for full details of this book, to ask a question or to buy it on-line.
