Presents, in its Limited Edition collectible format, Tom Stoppard's "The Coast of Utopia" Trilogy. All three sequential yet self-contained plays in their final version: "Voyage: The Coast of Utopia Part One"; "Shipwreck: The Coast of Utopia Part Two"; and "Salvage: The Coast of Utopia Part Three". Written, re-written, and revised one final time (in 2006, five years after their wildly successful premiere), the trilogy dramatizes the philosophical debates in pre-Revolutionary Russia (between 1833 and 1866). The title comes from Avrahm Yarmolinsky's book, "The Road To Revolution: A Century of Russian Radicalism" (1959). "I think it is time we began to appreciate Stoppard not for his intellectual legerdemain, but for what he is actually best at: Exploring the mystery of existence, the anguish of the human heart, and the strange fact that it is our apprehension of death that gives joy and intensity to life" (The Guardian). "A major work of theatrical craftsmanship, the singular narrative seductiveness of drama" (The New York Times). This comes with a black-and-white original photograph, issued by his publisher for publicity purposes. Size is 4 X 6 inches "bleed" (no borders). Shows Tom Stoppard in an iconically nonchalant pose, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, Russian emigre/Continental style. An absolute "must-have" set for Tom Stoppard collectors. This copy is one of the Limited Slipcased Edition, indicated/numbered as such on the Front Limitation Page. It is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed in black ink-pen by Tom Stoppard. It comes with a 4 X 6 inch author photograph that is very boldly and beautifully signed in black pen-marker in front by Stoppard. This title is a contemporary classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed set available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, pristine beauties. A rare signed set thus. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Drama in 2007. One of the greatest playwrights of our time. A fine collectible set. (SEE ALSO OTHER TOM STOPPARD TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 0802118658.
