                Original publisher's multicolored paper wrappers with a color illustration on the front cover by Lawrence of a woman in an Eastern veil and attire motioning toward a mystical-looking man sitting cross-legged with a black panther on his lap.  Illustration accompanies one of this issue's stories, "The Gray Mahatma."  White spine with black lettering.  6 1/2" x 9 1/2."  114 pages, complete.  Black-and-white illustrations by Lawrence, Finlay, Bok and Fawcette, complete.  Advertisements are interspersed throughout.  Pages and covers are clean and intact overall.  Pages are fragile and age-toned with a few closed tears.  Some chipping at the edges and spine.  The largest chip is in the lower-right corner on front and measures about 1" x  1/2."  One piece of tape at head of spine.  Covers are cut along the edges but this may be original.  A Very Good Copy.  Famous Fantastic Mysteries was a science fiction and fantasy pulp magazine edited by Mary Gnaedinger.  The first issue appeared in 1939.  Its popularity quickly led to the publication of a companion magazine, Fantastic Novels.  The last issue of Famous Fantastic Mysteries was published in 1953.  The December 1951 issue.  The following are in this issue: a full-length feature, "The Gray Mahatma," by Talbot Mundy; a novelette, "'--And He Built a Crooked House--,'" by Robert A.
