Original publisher's black and white illustrated wrappers with staple binding. Purple accent decoration and text on front cover. Front cover also shows a portrait photograph of King George V. 8" x 12." Pages 41-80, complete. Black and white photographs and illustrations, complete. Advertisements on back cover and inside of back cover. Text at the bottom of the back cover: "Printed and Published by The Times Publishing Company, Limited, Printing House Square, London, E.C." Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. A few smudges on a couple pages. Slight discoloration to the covers and slight edge wear. A Near Fine copy. The Times: History of the War, was a weekly subsidiary publication of The Times newspaper, which had been founded in 1785 as the Daily Universal Register. Its name was changed to "The Times" in 1788 and still operates to this day under the same title. This issue includes Chapters III and IV under the titles, "The British Navy and Its Work" and "The German, French, Russian and Austrian Navies," respectively. Some of the topics of Chapter III: "Tasks of the Navy," "Subsidiary Duties," "Commerce Protection," "Safeguarding the Food Supply," "Closing the Enemy's Ports," and "Main Object Destruction of the Enemy's Fleets." Some of Chapter IV's topics: "German Naval Policy," "Von Tirpitz," "The Navy Law of 1900," "Boue de Lapeyrere," "The Japanese War," "The Navy-Bill of 1912," "Gregorovitch," "The Austro-Hungarian Navy," and "Adriatic Bases." Chapters III and IV also feature many reprinted photographs and illustrations, some of which are full-page. Some of the depicted subjects in the photographs and illustrations include King George V, the HMS Dreadnought, Lord Nelson, Captain Cecil H. Fox, Winston Churchill, Prince Louis of Battenberg, Sir John Jellicoe, Prince Henry of Prussia, Grand Admiral Von Tirpitz, Admiral Von Ingenohl, the Prince of Wales, the King of Servia, Admiral Boue de Lapeyrere, Vice-Admiral Sir Frederick Sturdee, and French Battleship Danton..
