A touch of light bruising to the backstrip ends and a hint of toning to the front free endpaper. A production fault crease to the base of two preliminary leaves. A very good copy in slightly marked, soiled and edgeworn non-price-clipped dust wrapper. The author's second novel, which provoked some mild pre-publication controversy after the original publisher, Dodd, Mead dropped it from their autumn 1983 list following a decision by their parent company that it contained too many instances of the word "goddamn". The parent company, Thomas Nelson Inc., was at that time the world's most successful Bible publisher, which was seemingly the root of the issue. Henege issued a rebutting statement: "Thomas Nelson has the power, by way of ownership, to dictate to Dodd, Mead what it can and cannot publish. This augurs ill for Dodd, Mead's authors . I fear for the future of independent thought in the United States", and the novel was subsequently picked up by St. Martin's Press. There does not appear to have been a UK edition.. Book.
