The thirtieth installment of the Oz novels and the sixteenth Oz novel to be written by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Illustrated by John R. Neill. The original Oz books were created by L. Frank Baum. Captain Salt in Oz follows the adventures of Captain Samuel Salt in the Nonestic Ocean. This installment differs from other Oz books in that the story takes place entirely outside of the land of Oz and only indirectly references Oz inhabitants. Captain Salt in Oz is also the first book in the Oz series since The Road to Oz (1909) to be published without internal color plates.
