Russet cloth covered boards with gilt frog and titles on front, gilt spinal titles and embossed frog on rear board. The whole shows some modest soiling and edge wear. Bevelled boards with threads showing at extremities. Bookplate adhered to brown ffep and contemporary (to publication) ownership name on second blank page. The whole is tighty bound, and clean throughout save mentioned points. Redish dark brown binding (terra cotta), beveled covers, illustrated leaping frog in gilt on top cover (in blind on back cover), gilt lettering and illustrated publisher's logo on spine, 198 printed pages. Chocolate-colored endpapers. Dedication page and "Advertisement" in preliminaries. Points of issue: Damaged "e" in the word "life," last line, page 66; damaged "i" in the word "this," last line, page 198. Condition of binding: Lightly worn, age darken (extremities, bottom half of spine), faint old soiling; fraying to top/foot of spine; shelf wear (several light bumps); one corner bumped, two corners showing a tad. First hinge: About 2-inch crack, light wear. Endpapers: Small bookstore label on first pastedown endpaper (and old price in pencil), light creases, chips. Rear endpapers: Creases, light chips. Overall internally: Some foxing, old humidity stains, soiling, short tears, lightly age toned -- pages in very good condition and very readable.
