Original publisher's beige pamphlet made from one leaf folded into quarters and printed on four panels. 7" x 9 1/2." Four pages, complete. Paper is very clean and intact. A few small, faint stains on Page 1 (front panel). A Fine copy. "Lawton Kennedy, Printer" is printed on the back panel. Front panel says the following: "Robert Graves; The University of San Francisco aims 'to cultivate the heart that is may love worthwhile things.' First editions with inscriptions and corrected galley proofs of such a writer as Robert Graves, Professor of Poetry at Oxford, have the magic to thrill the student, to give him a love of learning sufficient for a lifetime. Therefore, the University and the Gleeson Library Associates thank Mr. Walter Bartmann for adding to the cultivation of our students by the donation of his collection of first editions of Robert Graves. All titles of this collection are contained in the checklist except ephemera. Titles with asterisk are not in the collection but will be added. Annual Meeting, Gleeson Library Associates, April 29, 1962." Walter Bartmann's donated collection of Robert Graves first editions are grouped in four sections on Pages 2-4. Section 1 contains "Poetry, Novels and Essays." Section 2 contains "Collaborations and Translations." Section 3 contains "Miscellaneous Titles." Section 4 contains "Letters and Recording." The printer of this pamphlet, Lawton Kennedy (1900-1980), was a prominent figure in the printing industry. He worked for several acclaimed Bay Area printers including John Henry Nash, Johnck & Seeger, Jane Grabhorn's Colt Press, and Albert Sperisen's Black Vine Press.. Book. Book Condition: Fine.
