UK,slim Qrto HB,no dw/dj,as issued,1st edn.FINE-.No owner inscrptn to owner panel,and no price-clip (55p.) to colour pictorial cartoon illustrated front free endpaper.Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,glossy,paper-covered colour pictorial cartoon illustrated boards and black,red+yellow lettered title and black year date; black rhyming text question to a white panel tp front; with negligible shelf-wear, bumping,creasing to edges and corners - no nicks,tears or splits present,and immaculate 3-colour block (red+b/w) sets of cartoon pictorial illustrated endpapers.Colour pictorial cartoon of Korky marching along,playing a drum and being followed by a single file of a number of mice stretching back to over the horizon.Rear cover's with repeated colour lettering as front cover and black text rhyming poem in a white panel,with a colour cartoon revealing Kotky sat on a stone milestone by the side of the road,opening the drum to show it laden with food for him to eat,with a part-eaten chicken carcass on the lid of the drum on his knees.He's surrounded by the mice all waiting for him to throw some scraps of food; a group of mice collecting a bone Korky has thrown to them.Top edges more aged/toned than the fore-edges and both with some sporadic foxing/spotting; contents generally bright and clean apart from minor page edge bleeding from foxed edges,otherwise tight and solid - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners, appears unread - other than my own collation.UK,slim Qrto HB,no dw/dj - as issued,1st edn,142pp [part paginated] includes profuse DANDY comics' character's colour strip cartoons and stories. Visually the exterior appearance is spectacular for a book of it's age and nature, i.e a child's book,and even internally,the book is also in an acceptable condition/state of preservation and presentation.It is only the page-edge bleed of foxing/spotting that prevents a higher grading. The DANDY ANNUAL is the current name of the book that has been published every year since 1938,by D. C. Thomson & Co., Ltd.,based in Dundee,to tie-in with the children's weekly comic 'The DANDY'. The first issue was printed in December 1937, making it the world's third-longest running comic,after Il Giornalino (cover dated 1 October 1924) and Detective Comics (cover dated March 1937).From August 2007 until October 2010,it was rebranded as 'Dandy Xtreme',relaunching as an online comic 'The Digital Dandy',appearing on the Dandy website and in the Dandy App on the same day as the final printed issue of the comic. That digital relaunch was not successful and the comic ended just six months later.As one of the best-selling comics in the UK,along with 'The BEANO', 'The DANDY' had sales of 2 million issues a week in the 1950s.Its final printed edition was issued on 4th December 2012, the comic's own 75th anniversary,after sales slumped to just 8,000 a week.As of 2021 there have been 83 editions.'The Dandy Annual' continued to be published, even though the weekly Dandy comic has now ended.The annuals are traditionally published in July or August,in time for the Christmas market and since 1965,they have had the date of the following year on the cover - prior to that no date was given.From 1938 to 1951 the annual was called 'The Dandy Monster Comic.' A name change in 1952 made to 'The DANDY BOOK' and continued with the year changing for each subsequent annual,until the release of the 2003 book in 2002,when it was renamed 'The DANDY ANNUAL'. Even with the comic's relaunch as 'Dandy Xtreme' in 2007,it is still known as 'The DANDY ANNUAL'. Mirroring the comics at the time,the front cover usually featured Korky the Cat.After Desperate Dan took over the front page in 1984,the annual cover reflected this by featuring both Korky and Dan until the release of the 1991 book in 1990 – which was the first ever Dandy Annual to not feature Korky on the front cover in any way.He has made several appearances since then,despite the main focus shifting to Dan.
