Photo is virtually pristine and intact except for a few minuscule scratch marks and slight age toning. A Fine copy. Lupe Velez (1908-1944) was a Mexican actress, dancer, and singer. Velez was part of Hollywood's "Golden Age" and her talent was discovered after people from Hollywood heard of her successful acting career in Mexico. Velez was often typecast as a beautiful "spitfire" and starred in a number of films. Some of the studios she worked with were RKO Radio Pictures, Universal Studios, and Columbia Pictures. Among her notable roles was her recurring portrayal of a fictional character, Carmelia Lindsay, in the eight-movie series, Mexican Spitfire. This film series was significant in that is was the first time a Mexican actress in the United States starred in eight successive movies.
