ISBN 2880460271

First Edition / First Printing. Fine in Fine Dust Jacket. Unpaginated. Collection of black-and-white female nudes. Now considered a contemporary erotic art photography classic. The first and only edition. Published in a small and limited print run as a hardcover original only. The First Edition is now rare. An austerely elegant production by Christian Vogt: Oversize-volume format. Pristine-white cloth boards with gilt titles embossed on spine, as issued. Photographs and brief Introduction by Christian Vogt. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Geneva, Switzerland to the highest standards. In pictorial DJ with black titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Presents Christian Vogt's "In Camera: Eighty-Two Images by Fifty-Two Women". Stylishly and subtly beautiful, affecting, and sensual collection of female nudes, which he undertook in close collaboration with each of his subjects. Instead of relying on his own prejudices and perceptions, as most other photographers do, Vogt allowed the women to decide as much as they wished how they wanted to be photographed (as long as they were comfortable doing so completely nude), what props they wanted to use, and even what kind of camera angle, lighting, makeup, and other technical aspects normally left to the photographer's discretion they had in mind. In short, Vogt was saying, "I Am A Camera", to borrow Christopher Isherwood's famous line, merely recording the women as they saw themselves (and wanted to be seen by the viewer) instead of imposing his own vision. The result, not surprisingly, is in Christian Vogt's trademark elegant and immaculate yet highly erotic style, perfectly expressing his profound love of women and their bodies. As Pablo Picasso once said, the more an artist collaborates with his subject, the more he ends up realizing rather than diluting his own vision. "The nudity of a woman is wiser than the teachings of the philosophers" (Max Ernst). An absolute "must-have" title for Christian Vogt and erotic art photography collectors. This copy is very prominently and beautifully signed and dated (in the year of publication) in black ink-pen on the half-title page by the photographer: "Christian Vogt 1982". It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a great erotic art photography book. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. A rare signed copy thus. 82 duotone plates. One of the most brilliant photographers of our time. A fine copy. . ISBN 2880460271.
