WELTY, Eudora. IDA M'TOY. Urbana: University of Illinois Press (1979). One of 350 signed and numbered copies. [36] pp. Small 4to., green cloth stamped in gilt. Limitation page at rear is signed by Eudora Welty. The author's lovely b/w photo portrait illustrates the text, and facsimiles of letters from Ida M'Toy follow Welty's text. A lovely book. Welty tells the story of Ida's life, from her beginnings as a nurse and then midwife in Jackson, to her business dealing in second-hand clothing, and to her family history recalled in her elder years. "Ida M'toy" was originally published in the periodical Accent in 1942.
