Letter handwritten on beige paper in black ink. Datelined December 29, 1882, possibly in Baltimore. 5 3/4" x 9 1/4." One page. Letter and signature are very clean and intact. William Pinkney Whyte (1824-1908) was a lawyer and U.S. Senator from Maryland (1868-1871; 1875-1881; 1906-1908). He also served as Governor of Maryland (1871-1874) and Mayor of Baltimore (1881-1883). In this letter to literary editor Eugene L. Didier (1838-1913), Whyte asks for Didier's house number on "I" Street and says Didier can visit him.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
