All edges gilt; green page ribbons. Vol. I: Mammalia [circa. 1861], 800 pgs. including Index; Vol. II: Birds, 1862, 786 pgs. including Index; Vol. III: Reptiles, Fishes, Mollusca, 1863, 810 pgs. including Index. Condition: Rubbed, some discoloration spots; shelf wear (leather rubbed off at various sections of extremities); some corners bumped, several showing; old former owner's name penned on each title page; minor dings to edges; scattered foxing; periodic pencil notations; few crease marks to pages and ink spots (mostly in Vol. III); bottom edge of Vol. II bumped, rubbed (affecting gilt); toned and scattered foxing; else all Very Good condition. No crack or tears to bindings. Volumes solid, text very readable, illustrations clear and vivid. A wonderful set with detailed fine illustrations.
