Each page is very clean and intact except for age toning and slight wrinkling. A Very Good copy. A transcription of a Texas folk song, "Long Ways to Texas," which has the repeating lyric, "It's a Long Way Back to Texas." "Long Ways to Texas" is a humorous Texas folk song about a young Texan who is in England at the beginning of World War I. He volunteers to fight in the English Army to help defeat Germany figuring "it's a long way back to Texas," so he might as well stay and fight. As the song progresses, the soldier decides he is not so courageous after all and that he would rather hide from the fight and remain neutral. This version of the song was probably written down after it was heard by the writer. It contains more chorus/verse than other known versions. For reference, there is a copy of this song at the Max Hunter Folk Song Collection at SMU that was transcribed from a 1970 performance by Raymand Sanders.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: No Binding
