Wm. McCormick, Boston, Massachusetts

circa.1880s. Unnumbered. Stereograph on yellow board (3 1/2 x 7 inch) with title super imposed on the bottom of the right photo. Image looking toward the front entrance of the five story building with trolley cars in front, which was built between 1869 and 1880 at a cost of 8.5 million dollars (1880). It was built in the 'Second Empire' style. Known as 'Mullett's Monstrosity' it was torn down in 1939 and City Hall Park was expanded to include the lot. It housed the city's main post office and federal offices. Unfortunately the loading docks faced City Hall. Evidence of being folded in half, though it doesn't effect the image.. Book.
