VG.No owner inscrptn per se,but High School Prize presentation label/bookplate pasted to front pastedown,dated later (1936) than book was actually and earlier published.Bright,crisp,generally clean - front board with slight discolouration of shadowing to top and fore-edges being exposed from the presence of a smaller book whilst shelved and a few other small blemishes; else sharp-cornered - exception of the rear lower corner which has a small dent and crease,publisher's covers with bright,crisp,gilt blocked title to front and gilt blocked letters; title/author/publisher slightly dulled to a darkened, and slight blemished spine/backstrip,rear board/cover plain and undecorated,rear board/cover with light age grubbing - commensurate with book's age,white endpapers with off-set shadowing from respective opposing pastedowns to their respective verso+recto,but both hinges solid and sound and without any cracking. Negligible shelf-wear,bumping,creasing to edges and corners - no nicks,tears,splits or fraying present.Top edges gilt,fore- edges deckled (untrimmed - though a few have been trimmed and some also opened) and toned; contents bright,tight,clean - text body virtually foxing-free,solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners - appears unread,apart from my own collation.UK,slim 8vo HB,no dw/dj - as issued,1st edn,includes [unpaginated] 44pp Address,excluding endpapers,in sewn signatures A-F,half-title+title pages, location+date of the Rectorial Address page,and a dedication.
The large-paper issue in the trade binding as opposed to vellum and the following dust-wrappered,smaller sized 12mo HB (also circa 1922) editions.
