Good condition with usage showing. Front hinge is cracked all the way however book is not totally separated Ledger type covers of black/burgandy covers. Gold braid showing. Gold lettering/detail on spine are worn. Spine title is spelled "Ecletic". Owner's name in faded gold near spine bottom. Also neat inked ownership in script 'Alfred Payton Crafts, Union College, November 1850'. Top one and one half inches of spine edges are torn. Corners are scuffed along with spine/edges Rear hinge not as bad. Solid yellow endpapers. Light foxing throughout. Also some discoloring. Reviews of Ralph Waldo Emerson's 'Representative Men'Nice steel engravures of Arrest of Lady Jane Grey; Henrietta, Queen of England, In Concealment; Hon. Mrs. Norton; Alonzo rescuing Cora from The Palace of the Sun; the Heart's Resolve. All have tissues. First few pages are half separated. One is also partly torn. Book is about 2 1/4 inches thick.
