Small octavo (168 x 114 mm.), contemporary half calf, marbled boards, a little worn. Engraved title, advertisement and contents leaves, general map and 42 maps, that of Yorkshire is folding, early outline coloured throughout and generally printed recto and verso, Yorkshire map slightly soiled and repaired.

This is the smallest of the three county atlases produced by John Cary. It was described by Cary as being an abridgement of the New and Correct Atlas of 1787. It was first published in 1790 and according to Fordham this is the third edition. Reference Chubb 276; Fordham (1925) pp. 35-8.
