This book has vignettes filled with the Civil War details, which includes Stuart, Jackson, Hampton, Ashby, Beauregard, Early, Mosby, Pelham, Farley, Hardeman Stuart, and Jennings Wise. The reader will follow John Esten Cooke through John Brown's raid and on to the famous ride around McClellan's army. There's Gettysburg, Grant's assault from Wilderness to Cold Harbor, the siege of Petersburg and Richmond, and Appomattox. The author addresses the cavalry, the outpost, scout life, and latter days (Lee's last battles, General Pegram on the night before his death, etc.). Very historical and collectible.
