Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915) was an American writer, publisher and philosopher. He was the founder of the Roycroft artisan community in East Aurora, New York. This community promoted the Arts and Crafts movement, and produced this book in that design. This book is a biography of Robert Owens (1771-1858), a Welsh philosopher and social reformer. He began as a manager of cotton mills and his attempts to conduct a profitable business while also improving the lives of the workers eventually lead him to expound a philosophy of utopian socialism..
