(Cape Town: Government Printer, 1966)

Royal 8vo; half calf with cloth sides; gilt-on-red leather spine label; pp. xliii + 1141; English text on recto, and Afrikaans text on facing verso. Cover a little worn; legal firm's ownership inscription to front free endpaper; a little foxing; binding a little slack: starting between first printed leaf and first gathering. Good condition. This was the year in which the "Architect of apartheid", Hendrik Verwoerd, was assassinated, and Cape Town's District Six was declared a white area. Act No. 36 "To consolidate the law relating to the establishment of group areas, etc." expanded upon the infamous Group Areas Act of 1950. A further item of apartheid legislation, taking into account the Nationalists' Bantustans policy, is Act 63, the Bantu Laws Amendment Act.
