Map frontis, extra illustrated title page, vignette title plus 24 plates - all present though one is loose. Original decorated red cloth gilt, very faded and rubbed to spine and lower halves of boards. Webbing visible at front hinge but holding, rear hinge has cracked. Contents shaken, 2.5 x 9cm strip torn vertically from front free endpaper, tissue guard to frontis. is torn with slight loss. Pages browned and occasionally foxed. This book has been used and loved but is still an acceptable copy of a very early edition with illustrations of this classic work.
