UNIDENTIFIED : 1898 HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT DIARY: YOUNG VERMONT GIRL DETAILS LIFE, WORK AND LOCAL HISTORY

12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. On offer is a charming handwritten manuscript diary in a notebook style journal authored in 1898 by a young Barton Vermont girl. A dedicated diarist our unidentified writer details the lives and travails of a hardworking rural family just before the turn of the century. She never fails to start the day relating the weather, her Father's jobs and duties, [he seems to be a butcher traveling throughout the area killing and dressing hogs and cows] and the work of the many members of the family. It appears from a casual reading that there is a shop also that the Father and some of the children work in. While our writer is unknown she never fails to mention her contacts, the names of local residents and friends that visit or fall ill and who have died. This diary will prove a treasure trove of genealogical information and local history besides being an intimate peek into a young girl's life just before the 19th century ended. Save for some mouse nibbles to the top of the spine and light general soiling this book is G+.. Book Condition: Good
