The image shows Fontanella lying flat on her back and crying mock tears after having fallen off the first step of a ladder. Frank G. Weller (1833-1877) was an early New Hampshire stereoview photographer beginning in 1861. Among his stereoviews was the 'Stereoscopic Treasures' series - photos showing family life and circumstances. Sometimes he used relatives as models as in the case here. Fontanella A. Weller (1870-1892) married Henry Fitch in 1890 and eventually lived in Spokane, Washington.
