"Puerta del Sol", the audiomagazine for intermediate to advanced speakers of Spanish and those interested in Spanish lifestyle, culture and travel.
Produced in Madrid by professional broadcasters and journalists, each bimonthly audiomagazine (6 issues a year) consists of an hour-long programme in Spanish on audio cassette (or CD)
containing news, features and interviews reflecting what's going on in
the Hispanic world. Previous people on the programme include: José Carreras, Felipe González, Julio Iglesias, President Carlos Menem of Argentina and Carlos Fuentes.
Among the segments in the recent editions are an interview with Federico Mayor
Zaragoza, director general of UNESCO, a feature on Spanish culture on the internet and a visit to the Alhambra. In addition, Isabel
Allende, daughter of former Chilean president Salvador Allende,
talked about the arrest of General Augusto Pinochet in London.

A booklet containing a word-for-word transcript and an extensive glossary accompanies the audio component. In addition to translations into English of difficult words and phrases, the glossaries contain extensive biographical, historical, political, and cultural notes prepared by experienced editors - many of whom also write for some of the world's most prestigious newspapers and magazines. An optional study supplement with listening exercises and grammar drills is also available in each issue.
